1.5 GHz VLA Snapshot Survey of Galactic Plane (0d<l <90d)
R. Garwood
Abstract (Garwood et al. 1988)
We presented results from a continuum VLA snapshot survey of the galactic
plane in the longitude range 0d < l < 90d at 1.5 GHz. Observations
were taken every 0.5^o in longitude at b=0^o. Most fields are complete to
about 30 mJy peak density. The positions, peak, and total flux density
of 471 compact sources (<30") have been measured. A complete sample of
329 sources is defined. An excess of sources above that expected from
extragalactic source counts is seen for l<40 at all flux-densyty intervals.
We find 86 compact sources that are within 2.4' of a source in the recent
radio recombination-line survey of Lockman (1988). Source counts exlcuding
these 86 sources agree with extragalactic source counts for all
flux-density and longitude intervals. These may only be a small number of
galactic objects present in this survey that remain unidentified as such.
Description
This catalog contains results from a continuum VLA snapshot survey of the
galactic plane in the longitude range 0d < l < 90d at 1.5 GHz. The VLA
B-array was used with a circular restoring beamwidth of 4.0 arcsec.
Observations were taken every 0.5d in longitude at b=0d. Most fields
are complete to about 30 mJy peak flux density. Positions, peak, and
total flux density have been measured for 471 compact (<30") sources.
These data were originally presented in Garwood et al., 1988, AJ, 96, 1655.

General description
1. COLUMNS glong glat
These columns give the galactic longitude and galactic latitude of the
fitted source peak position, in degrees.
2. COLUMN climit
This column gives the completeness limit (uncorrected for primary-beam
attenuation and bandwidth smearing) corresponding to the field on which
the source was found.
3. COLUMNS ra_1950 dec_1950 ra_1950_deg dec_1950_deg
ra_2000 dec_2000 ra_2000_deg dec_2000_deg
These columns give the B1950 and J2000 right ascension and declination
in radians and in degrees. The J2000 positions are from the catalog,
the B1950 positions were precessed in ADS to facilitate multi-catalog
searching in Einline. The positions are conservatively estimated to
be accurate to within 2".
4. COLUMNS intflux pkflux
These columns give the integral and peak flux densities. Both of these
values have been corrected for primary-beam attenuation. The peak value
has also been corrected for bandwidth smearing.
5. COLUMN ratio
This column gives the ratio of integral to peak flux density, a useful
quantity to indicate how resolved the source is.
6. COLUMNS flag1 flag2
The flag1 column is set to 1 if the source is within 15 arcminutes from
the pointing center, otherwise it is set at 0. The flag2 column is set
to 1 if the uncorrected source peak flux density is greater than the
completeness limit on the field as listed in this table, and is set to
0 otherwise.
7. COLUMN notes
This column gives notes and identifications for the source. The following
are some of the abbreviations used:
- A Survey position is less than 2.6 arcmin from a source in Altenhoff
et al. (1978).
- L Survey position is less than 2.4 arcmin from a recombination-line
source in Lockman (1989).
- I Interesting IR source found at survey position by Jones, Garwood,
and Dickey (1978).
- H 21 cm absorption towards this source by Garwood and Dickey (1989).
